The Second Day After the Sunda Strait Tsunami Occurred, Basarnas Focused on Evacuating Victims

Kabar Hub. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) focuses on searching for post-tsunami victims that hit the coastal areas of the Sunda Strait, in Anyer, Banten and Lampung on Saturday (12/22/2018) night.

That was said by the Head of the Basarnas Inter-Media Relations Sub-Section Yusuf Latif on Monday (12/24/2018).

"For the second day, we are still sweeping victims who have not yet been found," Yusuf said.

In the evacuation process, the Basarnas reduced 151 personnel. Of these, 111 personnel were deployed to conduct the search process in the Banten area.

The personnel consisted of Basarnas members in Banten, Jakarta, and the central Basarnas team.

Meanwhile, as many as 40 other personnel were deployed for the evacuation process in the Lampung area originating from Basarnas members in the area.

Basarnas also lowered a number of equipment, including one helicopter, two large vessels, and three fast boats to conduct a search.

"We also plunged helicopters 1, then large Ujuran ships 2, RIBs there were 3 including Lampung. Then for sweeping starting from Carita Beach, coast of Anyer to Pandeglang, sweeping this morning," said Yusuf.

Based on the latest data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) until Sunday (23/12/2018) at 4:00 p.m. WIB, the death toll from this disaster increased to 281 people.

Meanwhile, the injured numbered 1,016 people and 57 people were missing.
Material damage included 611 housing units, 69 hotel and villa units, 60 culinary stalls, and 420 ships and boats.
