This is the explanation, there are two Sunda Strait Tsunami Events

Fokus Pos. The Sunda Strait tsunami event that occurred on Saturday (12/22/2018) night caused grief for Indonesia. However, there is a confusing number of information that happened after the disaster.

Some people are not responsible for making hoaxes or hoaxes that can make people nervous.

The Ministry of Communication and Information confirms that until Sunday (12/23/2018) there were two hoaxes regarding the Sunda Strait tsunami which affected several regions, such as Banten, Lampung and Serang.

The two hoaks contain mountain eruption detection devices and warnings of disasters at the end of 2018. Following are the reviews.

1. Mountain Eruption Detection Equipment

Hoaks starts from one of the uploads of accounts on Facebook social media. The account uploads a photo with the description that the photo is a tool that can detect mountain eruptions.

It was also stated, the tool was worth 6 M, and had been installed by the government in the Duda Strait.

Here's the photo description:

"Mount eruption detection devices are installed by the central government in the village of the duda strait for 6 m. Capable of detection 2 hours before it erupts ..."

The clarification regarding the content was delivered by the Head of the Information and Public Relations Data Center for the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB)

Sutopo Purwo Nugroho. Sutopo stressed that the tool is a siren to provide early warning when there is danger from the eruption of Mount Agung and cannot be used to detect mountain eruptions.

He said, how the tool works is similar to tsunami sirens, but the tool can be carried anywhere.

2. SMS the End of Year Disaster Warning

The false news this time was delivered by short message. An irresponsible person using number +6281803016426 disseminates warning information to the Indonesian people just in case there is a disaster starting December 21, 2018 until the end of December.

This message states that the information was submitted by members of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

Next is the message:

"Attention to Indonesian citizens so that the 21st to the end of December will always be vigilant because there will be a disaster that will hit Indonesia. This has been conveyed by BMKG members so that they are always careful ..."

BMKG confirms that it has never issued warning information like this.

The message can be ascertained hoax or incorrect.

The community is encouraged to carry out activities as usual and keep monitoring the latest weather developments.
